Output devices

An output is a device and a soundtrack, paired. TinePlayer will output different soundtracks to two different outputs simultaneously in sync with the video.

Choosing Devices

Open the Output Device selector for either output on the media page or in the settings screen. Any audio device connected to your computer should appear in the list.

First Output must be set. Second Output can be set to None.

Which is Which

Nothing about First and Second implies importance. The usual arrangement is the room's speakers as the first and someone's headphones as the second, but it makes no difference which way round you do it.

Each output has its own volume and delay, a language preference, and whether to prefer audio description.

If a device is not listed

TinePlayer lists what the system tells it about. Something missing here is usually missing from your own sound settings too, so check there first.

On Linux, the list comes from PulseAudio or PipeWire. A machine running neither plays through the default output but has no list to choose from.
