Installing it
On Windows and macOS, open what you downloaded. On Linux, hand the package
to apt. The leading ./ matters: without it apt goes looking
for a package by that name in its own sources and tells you there isn't
one.
sudo apt install ./tineplayer_*.deb
If you're not sure which Linux package you want, ask in a terminal with
dpkg --print-architecture. It answers amd64 on
most desktops and laptops, and arm64 on a Raspberry Pi or
another ARM board.
Installing TinePlayer covers each platform in more detail, including building it yourself on distributions with no package yet.
What you need
- One audio device if you're watching alone, two if you're watching with someone and want to split audio tracks. Any pair works as long as your computer recognizes them as sound devices: speakers and headphones, a USB headset, an external sound card. They don't have to match.
- Something to play on them. Either a video carrying more than one soundtrack, like one ripped from a disc, or a video plus an external audio file.
