Subtitle Preferences
These settings (Settings › Subtitles) decide how subtitles are automatically chosen for a video when it is opened. If a specific subtitle was manually chosen, that will be loaded the next time rather than using these preferences.
Subtitle Type

Subtitle Language

Following an Output
The options that follow an output use the language of the track that is actually playing, not the language preference set for that output. If nothing matched your preference and the video's first track was used instead, the subtitles follow that track.
For a preferred output language match, it will fall through any available options for the given Subtitle Type preference (above), then do the same for the other output's language. The first match wins.
How Subtitle Languages and Types Are Recognized
TinePlayer will gather track info from several sources depending on what is available.
- Flags set in the track metadata in the video file.
- Language and track names from Jellyfin for a cast video. Its own forced and SDH flags are not read, since it reports them false on tracks it titles "Forced".
- An nfo file beside the video containing track information.
- Parsed from the track name or filename for external files.
