Audio Description

Audio Description tracks have preferred settings and can be played on either output. External audio tracks are supported and can be synced automatically to the video.

Screen Readers

Supported on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Menus, lists, buttons, and the playback controls are named, and each is announced as you reach it.

It is not yet thorough, feedback for how it can be improved are wanted.

Keyboard and Gamepad Controls

Everything is reachable from a keyboard or a gamepad, nothing depends on hovering, and the focus mark is meant to be visible from across a room. See Keyboard and Gamepad.

Large, Scalable Interface

The interface is built at television distance: large type, strong selection highlighting, and a size control that goes up to three times the normal scale. Left set to automatic, it will scale itself up to the resolution of the display. See The Settings Screen.

Subtitles

Subtitle tracks inside a video and files beside it appear in one list, as well as external files, so an SDH or hard-of-hearing track is chosen exactly like any other. Size and font are both adjustable, and measured against the video rather than the screen so they stay legible on a television. See Choosing Subtitles.

If TinePlayer does not work the way you need to, that is worth hearing about. Open an issue or start a discussion. Reports from people who use a screen reader or rely on audio description are especially useful.
